The purpose of this day is to review the history of film news in the world during the second half of the 20th century. It is associated with the ANTRACT project devoted to the transdisciplinary analysis of the newsreels of the filmed press company Les Actualités Françaises. Launched in the aftermath of the Liberation, this state-controlled company produced more than 20,000 news items for French and foreign cinemas for nearly a quarter of a century. ANTRACT is part of a twofold historical and technological research perspective: it studies the method of production, content and reception of Les Actualités Françaises films with the help of computer tools for the analysis of images, sounds and texts developed by the project’s partner laboratories.
