French language is essential at all levels of the school system in France and becomes crucial on entry to university. Nonetheless, a large number of students encounter difficulties with the language. Confronted with this situation, it is the responsibility of universities to design and organise the appropriate means for students to improve their written skills in French. None of the solutions present on the market at this time suits their needs entirely, and developing equivalent in-house solutions adapted to university requirements is too onerous for a single institution. Faced with the overwhelming need for this type of transversal training, it appears essential to develop an application for the evaluation, training and certification of written skills in French (both in comprehension and expression) on a national level. In order to do so, ECRI+ proposes the multi-establishment co- construction of a shared online service and the generalisation of dedicated training courses in each institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"\">Free of cost for public higher education institutions and their students, this online service will be more global and more systemic that the most widely-used commercial platforms on the market. It will allow<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">measurement of written comprehension and written expression in French (diagnosis);<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">for students, learning through self-assessment (formative evaluation);<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">certification (summative evaluation);<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"\">pedagogical improvements through shared knowledge and applications.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"\">Principally at the undergraduate level, but also at other levels of education, ECRI+ will accompany partner institutions both strategically and pedagogically in the creation of ad hoc courses. It will federate a supportive inter-institutional community in which the most advanced will transfer their skills and where each partner will share their own practices and experiments \/ experiences.
