Created at the Liberation, the public filmed press company Les Actualit\u00e9s Fran\u00e7aises produced newsreels for nearly a quarter of a century which were shown in cinemas in France and abroad. As well as being the public’s weekly rendezvous with the news, these films are also intended to promote the government’s major political orientations and to maintain the country’s cultural presence on the international scene.<\/p>\n

This presentation traces the history of Les Actualit\u00e9s Fran\u00e7aises, a company that sheds new light on the manufacture of information by the cinema and the links between the authorities and the media throughout the thirty glorious years.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
