In Le Mans : AI and climate change: incompatible?
The LIUM is specialized in the automatic speech processing by Artificial Intelligences (AI). Thus, the laboratory’s researchers build large models capable of transcribing a speech signal, translating text into a chosen language or automatically extracting concepts from a document. In addition to the fact that these large models must be trained for several hours or even days on powerful computing machines, it is necessary to store large volumes of data to learn them.
The LIUM proposes a reflexion around the environmental impacts linked to the use of AI. Using tools developed in the laboratory, researchers will identify the key words of climate change in media documents.
In Laval : Tangible objects to better experience and learn in augmented and virtual reality!
The computer science department of the IUT of Laval, the LIUM laboratory and the HRV company offer you to manipulate set pieces, smartphones and a force feedback arm, in augmented and virtual reality, to learn mathematics, discover geology and get initiated to dental surgery.
3 prototypes were presented : Evago, SMART-Fractions and AdapTABLES.
