International day for Girls’ Science and Technology Awareness
On Thursday 9 December, the international day to raise awareness among young girls about scientific and technical professions took place. Nathalie Camelin, Nicolas Dugué and Marie Tahon spoke to the students of the Touchard high school in partnership with the association “Elles bougent”.
During this afternoon, five professionals presented their career path: their professional project at the age of 18 and finally the job they have today.
This is an opportunity for the teacher-researchers in computer science at the University of Le Mans to motivate young girls to choose a career in computer science. Indeed, these professions generally offer good salaries, interesting working conditions and the opportunity to quickly take on responsibilities.
Finally, the high school girls were able to exchange views with the participants during round tables: ask questions about scientific careers and career guidance, address doubts about their future and talk about the prejudices they face.
