The Claude Chappe Institute of Computer Science (IC2), the Department of Computer Science, and LIUM have been committed for several years to promoting the role of women in the digital sector by introducing young girls to computer science disciplines.
From December 1 to 4, 2025, with the support of the Le Mans University Foundation, the institute welcomed 14 middle school girls from various schools in the Sarthe region for an internship to discover the different professions in the digital sector, including visits to companies.
During this edition, students explored the many facets of computer science, with the program including:
- 💡 fun workshops on career guidance and the role of women in IT, with the SUIO-IP
- 🤝 Discussions with students from the IT department and LIUM doctoral students (past and present)
- 🤖 Discovering generative AI tools and reflecting on their carbon impact
- 🧬 An illustration of computer science applications in bioinformatics
- 🏢 Meetings with IT professionnals from partner companies (Groupe SII, Infotel, Groupama, Crédit Agricole Anjou Maine)
- 🚒 and even an introduction to IT uses at SDIS 72!
